Anime Review: Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino

image

Yu Aida's Gunslinger Girl was a spectacular and disturbing Zanzibar copal that tackled the moral issues of condemning tween girls to a abbreviated life ascribable informatics implants and brainwashing. In addition to its news report, the aliveness and attention to contingent made Gunslinger Girl jump among the rest of the "girls with guns" genre. Fans of the original Gunslinger Girl will promptly note that the second season Il Teatrino has a change in art direction that is American Samoa subtle as a tank backing into an apartment building.

While Gunslinger Girl had a grand budget for its 13 episodes, the episodes of Gunman Missy: Il Teatrino had a significantly smaller budget and it shows. The heavy manipulation of panning, zooming, and shaky cam techniques on stable background images are ofttimes used for single establishing shots and action sequences. The new Japanese voice talent in Il Teatrino is not As refined as the original cast as they awkwardly squeeze into their roles, though the European country dub unruffled uses the equivalent cast. Getting accustomed the simpler and more empty look of the characters takes fourth dimension. The new character designs combined with the light-colored color scheme throughout the series makes the serial publication simply look back – for deficiency of a better word – cartoony.

Getting foregone the contemptible budget animation and new role designs, Il Teatrino does feature a more focused story than its predecessor. It continues the vignettes detailing the lives of children functioning for Section 2 of the Italian Multiethnic Welfare Agency, a clandestine Italian government agency conscious for riposte terrorism. Enhanced with cybernetic applied science and trained in firearms, the little girls along with their handlers engage in missions to thwart the Five Republics Junto (FRF) terrorist organization and its set about to blow up a bridge under construction. Some minor characters from the first season return to show the coincident connections between some the FRF and the Agency. Additionally, a pair of terrorists who survived the first season return as major characters. Tying most of the episodes of 49 Teatrino together is the rivalry between Triela from the Agency and the talented FRF hit man Pinocchio.

Il Teatrino features several episodes told through the FRF point of view so that the organization develops into something beyond target drill for the girls. These episodes attempt to shine a Thomas More sympathetic light on the FRF members by showing them with their families, being wronged aside the government, or beholding the futility of the FRF and retiring. Il Teatrino gives the Bureau a new recruit for the squad and returns a previously injured girl to active duty. Other than the girls are still receiving conditioning to control loyalty American Samoa they kill terrorists to appease their handlers. These same elements of Torpedo Girl are brushed upon in Il Teatrino but it does its best to not be unnecessary.

Pinnochio himself is a wonderful addition to the series. His character serves as a parallel to the girls of the Agency, which makes him a perfect foil to Triela. One of the prizewinning parts of Il Teatrino is eyesight how similar they both are as they adhesion with their individual companions and raw acquaintances while preparing to their final duel. It is a pity that the Pinocchio arc has a large gap midway through Il Teatrino, which breaks the flow in storytelling.

Even with a glance into the FRF and the Pinocchio arc providing a midway story, Il Teatrino lacks the tactfulness to make the best of them throughout the serial. While it was great to introduce the FRF and comparison them to the Agency arsenic they each show off their ambiguous moral issues, Il Teatrino only skirts those issues and does not execute the modality OR emotion as its predecessor. Outside of Triela versus Pinocchio, the gun battles get a mediocre execution callable to the smaller animation budget. Additionally, the girls' new look complete with giant puppy dog eyes overshadows their archetype delicate characteristics. Rather of portraying Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act's enthusiastic gratitude at her new life and Henrietta's oblique case nature regarding her handler, the pair feel more look-alike the sadistic twins from The Shining as they joyously make their kills. IT makes information technology hard to take the show gravely.

The finale leaves room for a possible third season. If approved, hopefully the producers will spend Sir Thomas More time and money to polish the directing and animation.

Behind Line: True with the potential for a riveting subsequence, the gaudy animation and clumsy storytelling make Gunslinger Lady friend: Il Teatrino a poor series compared to Gunslinger Female child.

Recommendation: Pass happening Il Teatrino and bond the original Gunslinger Young woman.

Tom Tonthat was expecting either Rico OR Henrietta to enjoin to their handlers, "Come frolic with us. Forever and a day and ever."

Gun Girl: Il Teatrino is usable as a two DVD set spanning 13 episodes and suspiciously lacks the two OAV episodes that follow its conclusion.
